Get your SERVE on!

Every day across our country, millions of Americans take time away from their work, their studies, and their families to give back to their communities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 25% of the American population volunteered through or for an organization at least once between September 2014 and September 2015.

As the main hub for volunteerism in the City of Richmond, the Richmond Community Services Department (CSD) hopes to bring light to the fabulous work that is already taking place in Richmond as well as inspire people to do more.

This website is a central meeting place for people to apply for volunteer opportunities with the City of Richmond as well as local nonprofits, agencies, and more. Volunteer opportunities are endless in Richmond with ample opportunities in gardening, tutoring, event planning, beautification, and everything in between, we believe that when people are inspired to celebrate doing well we can change our community for the better.

Special Thanks

In January 2012, the City of Richmond was awarded a two-year grant by the S.D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation to plan and implement the Cities of Service model to Richmond, California. Through this grant, the Richmond Community Services Department has established this website, hosted community service award ceremonies, brought together youth, and truly promoted volunteerism.

The Richmond community is a vibrant hub of local agencies and nonprofits working together with volunteers to make a difference in our community. Of course, our initiative would not be possible without the special work from community organizations and superstar volunteers! Thank you!
