The Love Your Block initiative is a high-impact service strategy in which the Office of Mayor Tom Butt and city staff will engage community members in revitalizing their neighborhoods one block at a time.

Cities of Service has chosen Richmond as one of seven national cities to plan and implement Love Your Block. Cities of Service has previously awarded Richmond $100,000 in grant funds to implement successful service initiatives that harness the power of volunteers to help improve Richmond students' writing and literacy skills through programs like the WriterCoach Connection.

Beautification, community engagement, and sustainability are our three values that we uphold at Love Your Block.

Since 2015, we have disbursed mini-grants worth up to $2,000 that create a vibrant, more livable Richmond. Awarded funds may go towards tool lending libraries, murals, community gardens, and everything in between. For the 2018 grant cycle, we closed our applications to previous mini-grant recipients in order to help sustain their projects.
